About The Show

An incredibly excellent totally wonderful show!

The N.Y.U. College Variety Hour is a student-run comedy interview television variety show and speaker series produced weekly at New York University. The show is organized by the “Views from N.Y.U.” Club at N.Y.U. Tisch, but students from all colleges at N.Y.U. are eligible to apply to the program.

Each show will feature an interview with a guest speaker, comedy segments, and musical numbers, created and produced by students and modeled after segments from earlier television variety shows.

Student participants will work on producing a television talk show using the same
Scripto software developed by The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, and now also used by The Tonight Show, The Daily Show, Last Week Tonight, Late Night with Seth Meyers, and Saturday Night Live’s Weekend Update.

Students will have the chance to attend tapings of television shows around New York City, and learn about the history of television broadcasting.

In order to produce the show, several weekly meetings are required to be attended by students involved in the program. Students must be able to dedicate time on weeknights and occasionally on weekends to help get the show ready in time for the taping.
